Alexis Sauer-Budge, PhD serves as Medilytix’s President and Treasurer. She received her BS/MS degrees in Chemistry from Stanford University and her PhD in Biophysics from Harvard University. For the past 15 years, Dr. Sauer-Budge’s research has focused on novel point of care diagnostics, tissue engineering, medical devices and scientific instrumentation. She has worked both in industry (BioScale, Inc) and for non-profit research organizations (Fraunhofer USA – CMI). She is driven to enable technological advances to improve human health. Dr. Sauer-Budge currently is a consultant with the firm Exponent, Inc.
Nadine SantaCruz, MD is a pediatric hematologist/oncologist and a pediatric neurooncologist. She received her medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She has a Masters in public health from Brown University. She completed her pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at the Alpert Brown/Hasbro Children's hospital in Providence, RI and her pediatric neurooncology fellowship at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Boston Children's Hospital. She is currently the clinical director at the Raish Peavy Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Center in Brewer, Maine. She is passionate about ensuring high quality, evidence-based medical care to those with limited access particularly individuals in rural communities and in the third world. She has volunteered on medical missions in Port Au Prince, Haiti and is currently serving as the Vice President and Secretary of Medilytix.
Peter Gilbert, PhD, Board Member, is the Director of Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, and Epidemiology, Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Research Professor, Department of Biostatistics, University of Washington School of Public Health. His research focuses on vaccine clinical trials and general biostatistical methods research, such as survival analysis, causal inference, and evaluation of surrogate endpoints. He received his BS in Mathematics and his MS/PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Washington. His postdoctoral training was conducted at Harvard University’s School of Public Health, in the Department of Biostatistics.
Kristi Gilbert, Board Member, is a passionate thinker and educator who deeply engages with people from cultures all over the world. She’s lived in multiple locations North and South America and Europe. She is fluent in Spanish and English. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Spanish Language and Literature from Pacific Lutheran University and a Masters of Education from Harvard University. Her educational background and international experience will help guide Medilytix mission of providing open source software to low resource international settings.
Penny Carothers, Board Member, brings a background in non-profit management and communication, having served both as a board and staff member with several international non-profits based in the Seattle area. She holds an M.P.A. from the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Policy and Governance, with a concentration in international relief and development, and a B.A. in history from Reed College.
Our board is motivated to use our talents to rectify the scientific and medical inequalities in the world. We are deeply passionate about social justice and believe everyone deserves access to technological advances that improve human health.
